Bog oak

This is a unique material owing to its beauty and quality. The wood of oak has been lying for hundreds of years on the bottom of rivers or in the layers of the ground at a low water level.

There, being devoid of oxygen, tannin which remains in the wood react with the salts of iron contained in water. As a result oak acquires unique physical properties: colour, firmness, longevity. A bog oak is extracted from the bottom of water bodies 6-14 metres deep photo

Considering the fact that all tree trunks are found in different conditions, each timber acquires a unique structure and colour.

Colour spectrum of bog oak is so various that it’s difficult to describe it. However, the most typical shades are presented at this page.

An isotopic age of bog oak supplied by us is about 1270 – 6450 years. This is confirmed with a sertificate of Laboratory for Radiation and Hygiene Monitoring of Marzeev Institute of Hygiene and Medical Ecology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (IHME AMS of Ukraine).

All pieces of bog oak timber undergo a thorough quality control starting from a log to a board.
